Fast Christmas Wreath from Scraps...

Just take out your rotary cutter...we used a pinking rotary...and cut your strips 2" X 10 "......
And then just tie them in a knot on the wire of a metal hanger.  Cut the hanger part off of the hanger...bend it in a circle....have the two ends meet....twist and tape with electrical tape....

Look how great this Wreath ends up....we used scraps in Red and Green and Taupe ....it is hanging on the door at the store.....I think the whole project took maybe an hour...so get started....great way to use up those scraps....

Happy creating....

And here it is.... the start of the cover...I have chosen all kinds of circle fabrics from Amy Butler Moon Dots to Kaffe Fassett Paperweights....I will applique first and then decide how I will quilt ..probably with free motion peace signs....
A work in progress...

WEEKEND Sewing...with Heather Ross...

I have been telling everyone at the store, that they need to make the "Smocked Sundress" from Heather Ross' Weekend Sewing book.....and since I had never tried the elastic thread smocking technique....I decided it was time to make up a sample.....

I just had to use the cute mermaid fabric from Heather Ross.....all you do for the smocking is use elastic thread in the bobbin....and sew lines....take a hot iron to the thread....

And here is the finished dress......It was really easy...and I like it so much that I am going to make myself one.....to wear by the pool....

Bohemian batiks....and purple Chinese lanterns....

I
I am so lucky to have these new samples in the store. Jen made up this Lila Tueller pattern, Funked out Peasant blouse....she used the new batiks from Hoffman and then trimmed it all with a solid for a really contemporary look. Jen did " tweak " the pattern a bit, she made it with short sleeves and no zipper......go Jen.....What a great top to wear with jeans, capris or shorts...It's a great pattern to mix fabrics for a bit of a "bohemian chic"....

I am also so lucky to have this great new sample in the store!!! Alisha made the new Anna Maria Horner Socialite dress pattern. She used the new Laura Gunn fabric, lantern bloom.....love the trim and belt in the contrast mosaic tile fabric. We have Laura's whole collection....she is an artist that converted her paintings into fabric...the colors and textures are amazing...
Check out my next post where you will meet Laura, and see her amazing collection....
